Fanconi Anemia And Other Inherited Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes
Fanconi Anemia And Other Inherited Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes
Over the last century, the data on hematopoiesis and the hematopoietic stem cells increased tremendously. This information was obtained not only from the pre-clinical studies, but also through understanding the pathophysiology of bone marrow failure syndromes.
Bone marrow failure syndromes can be either acquired or inherited and inherited bone marrow failure syndromes are importantly higher in populations with higher consanguineous marriages. Inherited bone marrow failure syndromes are a group of disorders characterized with congenital defects and increased propensity to cancer, accompanying cytopenias. Interestingly, almost all of these disorders are multigenic and the phenotype may also be different even within the same family, indicating a very heterogeneous group of disorders.
This book has been written for the purpose of giving an insight to clinicans who diagnose and treat these patients.
